2/28-3/4: WORLD WAR ONE, WEEK 2

Hope everyone had a lovely break and is ready to get back to school. We are going to continue with our unit on World War I.

MONDAY 2/28
In-Class: Review causes of World War I (Helpful to remember M.A.I.N -- militarism, alliances, imperialism, and nationalism). Begin discussing the July Crisis, response to the assassination of Franz Ferdinand.
Homework: 29-2 TCN (finish up, worked on for one class period)

TUESDAY 3/1
In-Class: Finish July Crisis Worksheet; discuss the war itself -- Western front, trench warfare, etc.
Homework: None (unless you didn't do the 29-2 TCN!)

WEDNESDAY 3/2
In-Class: Finish Western Front / Eastern Front Chart; Trench warfare overhead; Reading on Poison Gas
Homework: 29-3 TCN pgs. 253-255, stop at "War Affects Home Front" 


When reading, focus on the following ideas…

·      How does World War I escalate (to become a world war); Gallipoli Campaign
·      Wartime economies and role of government
·      How Allies push to victory
·      Concept of total war
THURSDAY 3/3
In-Class: 1914 Map of Europe
Homework: Finish 1914 Map of Europe

FRIDAY 3/4: PROGRESS REPORTS!
In-Class: WWI Video; Progress Report Meetings
Homework: Finish 29-3 TCN ; Get progress report signed by parent / guardian. Due by TUESDAY March, 8
